Wonder by R.J. Palacio

In the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio Auggie has to overcome the challenges that come with having a facial deformity but he eventually finds good friends. I think that is Auggie is special and different or a "Wonder". Theme of the story is that there are going to be issues in life but you just have to push through and keep going. In the end it will pay off.
Throughout the story Auggie has to make some difficult decisions like when his mom wants him to go to school. “I don’t want to go to school” Auggie says folding his arms. “It would be good for you” His mom says.

I am soooo tired. I am doing stem and leaf plots in math and they take FOREVER! I finally finished and I am half asleep as I am typing. I hope I get enough sleep tonight. I have to get my body prepared for volleyball so I have to go to bed early and wake up early. Wish me good luck!

For example at first Auggie said  "Every one will stare at me at school!" but all it took was a little push and some convincing before he realized that school isn't as bad as it seems . For example

Chapter One

Hi my name is Mellissa but my friends call Mel for short and I am a 16 year old girl from Chicago  Illinois and I just moved here. I am not used to high buildings and busy streets. Back home I lived in a medium sized house  with my Mom, dad and 2 sisters. By the way my mom just had a baby and its a boy! I am not that social but I do have 3 of my closest friends ever! Claire, Emma, and Lily. When I went to France over break I got us these special rings that have a flower and a special symbol in the middle that only we know what it means (but I can't tell you!). Anyway now that I am "responsible" I can baby sit my siblings. "Mel you know the rules no having friends over, no party's, no junk food for the twins, make sure the baby's bottle is not too hot," and the list could go on and on and on! "Ok okay I got it I think...." I said trying to pry my parents out of the house. "We love y-" I shut the door before they could say another word. " Aaaaaahh!" I heard a cry coming from upstairs. I tripped before I could reach the top stair and fell to the ground making a large thud.

Chapter two

"What happened" I thought to myself. As I looked around the whole house was trashed! As I tried to lift myself off the bottom of the stairs which now has a big stain on them that looked red, I saw the time and it was 12:00 at night! "Aaahhh!" Again it was the same sound I heard right before the "fall." I slowly walked up the stairs trying to walk around the used diapers. Nearby there was conveniently a bat and the top of the stairs and I grabbed it.  First I went into the twins room where I found a fort made out of everything thy could find I there big room. The crying got louder and louder and louder until Emma came from under the fort holding my baby brother Owen. She was covers in red liquid. "I-is that blood!" I said trying not to freak out. "You need to explain everything that happens now" I demanded. "Ok look ill explain but first we need to take Owen to a hospital quick". 

 

Chapter three

As I ran out side with Owen Cradled in his special blue blanket, and Emma holding the twins hands, a gust of wind came over us and sent chills down our spines. It was dark outside and I couldn't see much because when I woke up my glasses were know where to be found.  Ms. my baby brother needs a doctor right away, he isn't breathing , his eyes are turning red, and he wont stop crying and gasping for air!" I said as I could feel that I was about to cry. It felt like the ocean was behind my eyes crashing against them like waves hitting the sand. "Ok we will get him in right away, and in the mean time fill out this sheet.'' said the  nurse like she had all day. "Where are momma and daddy!" my sisters said in their baby voices. "There coming, there coming, just lay your head down in my lap and say a prayer for your brother" Said Emma in an insuring voice. I new way down deep deep into my stomach and in my soul that my parents weren't coming back anytime soon. to be continued...

I am so happy for the big sharks for winning the gravity cruiser! It was pretty obvious they were going to win from the beginning because they won every race they did. I was surprised to find out that they were the first people on Joberts to ever win. Sadly I left early before I could see them win but at least I got to see them race for most of the time. I hope that 2 years from now The Joberts team will win again!

Today I got my hair back and braids and I am so glad I did! When my hair was strait I had to brush it ever day for like 20 minutes and it hurt, I had to at least try to put it in a decent pony tail or try to make my hair puff down when I wore it down. I wouldn't be able to go swimming because if I get my hair wet while its strait it will get poufy and tangled and I don't want to even get into that... Anyway I am so glad I got braids because it looks better and saves a LOT of time!

Martin Luther King Day

Today I had a very busy day. First thing in the morning I went to Seaholm so we could do our presentation for project cope which was only a couple hours. On the first session Aria and I both messed up a little so we practiced a lot. On the second session I felt like I was really ready. We spoke perfectly and didn't mess up once! After that was over My mom took me with her to go widow shopping and I bought a new planner! After I took forever looking, we went to my eye doctor where I got my NEW GLASSES! I had been waiting 4 months for them. I slowly lifted them up out of the box and took a moment to look at them. I tucked my hair behind my ears and carefully slid the glasses onto my face and the doctor secured them behind my ears. After that all I could foucus on were my new glasses!

Tomorrow is Martin Luther King day! Today I am probably going to see Selma but I want to see it tomorrow but I am "busy". I think that My family doesn't have to study stuff about Martin Luther King because we already know a LOT of stuff about him and it is always going to be in our history and family everyday of the year. I am really thankful for Martin Luther King because without everything e did and was, I would still have to go to school that was just for "blacks and I wouldn't be able to drink at a water fountain  that said whites only so thank you Martin Luther King!

I have the stomach flu! It is really frustrating because I always miss a lot when I am not at school. My mom thinks I have strep throat so tomorrow I'm going to the doctor and I'm going to only be at school for a half day. I hope I get better soon!

"Hi guys, I am ready to sell jewelry!" I said as I walked into Groves. "Hi Jordyn ths is Gwen Gwen this Jordyn" said Megan. "Hi it's nice finally meet you Gwen." "It's nice to meet you too!" "Hi Vivian" I said. "Hi". Vivian and I searched for the office and when we found it it was closed! We went upstairs with Megan and found the perfect table sitting there right in front of us. Space we grabbed it and put it in the elevator went downstairs to set up. We put all the jewelry on the table. Gwen helped us set up and put the jewelry on the stands. Then  we all looked up and saw Aria come through the door with the big stand of necklaces. "Hi everyone sorry I'm late!" she said. "It's okay" I said. Once we were all set up Vivian and I went upstairs with the Elise to go advertise. We found out that we really didn't know how to advertise so we went back downstairs and helped sell jewelry. We didn't get as much customers it was we thought we were but we did get some. I watch through the big glass window the swimmers going back-and-forth and back-and-forth in the pool. Vivian are you and I went back upstairs to go try and advertise again. We came back downstairs again we still didnt know how. When we came back stairs we decided to take a little break. We were all so hungry. After our break it was almost time to go. I realizde that every dollar counts and I'm glad that we came to Groves yesterday!

On Friday I went to FNL and it was really fun. I was the first one to get there and

 I waited from the rest oft friends to come. As I stood outside I saw a group of girls run up screaming "WE DONT HAVE ON ANY COATS WE DONT HAVE ON ANY COATS!!!" There wre crouds if people taking pictures on the phone and talking. I was about to call Vivian when I saw 2 girls hat looked just like ShinBe and Ania!! As they ran up towards me I realized it was them! Space I ran up to them and started screaming. "Vivian keeps calling me but I can't hear her over all the screen people including us" I said barely hearing myself talk. "Oh can I call her" Shinbe said. "Sure". "Can we come over here it's freezing!" Shinbe said. "Hello Vivian can you hear me?I can't hear you it's really loud, BYE" Shinid as she tried to call Vivian. "OMG there is Aria!" Said Ania. We were all huddled in a little group trying not to lose each other in the crowd. I was so close to people I didn't even know. "12345 that's it" the guy at the door said. Shamby, I am, and Aria all went in and I had to stay behind until he counted me luckily they waited for me. As soon as I got in and gave the lady my five dollars I tried to move my numb cold fingers. I filled out the paperwork and got my ristband. After that was the beginning of an awesome night

This post was suggested by Ania's little sister Maja. Pillows are soft. Pillows are warm. At one point mostly  everyone has slept on the pillow. I love my pillow because it's a cooling pilowl so I won't get hot in the middle of the night. You can get all different shapes,colors and sizes. Ania's little sister Maja even made a snowman pillow. I love my pillow and I hope all of you do too!!

Next week is auditions for Blue Lake and our Orchestra teacher is making us do it. I mean I know she wants us to "know what it feels like to work hard for one week" but you still shouldn't force kids to do an audition because some might not feel comfortable. The cool thing is that even if you don't do well you still get at least 100 dollars but I am still going to do my best. I think that they should give higher scholarships that 540 dollars because blue lake cost a lot and that amount is only covering a little. I need to find a piece to go rehearse for my "audition'' quick. I cant wait!

Over break I face timed with my two friends Sully and Elise every day. It was like we had a schedule to call each other everyday. I could tell my mom was getting annoyed every time my phone buzzed when I got a text or when someone was trying to face time me. There was one game that Sully introduced me to called Geo Dash and I got so addicted to it! I was the first one to beat the first and second  level. On New Years at 12;00 it was 2015 but where Elise was it was still 2014 so it was cool that we were talking but we were in a different year. I really liked talking to Sullivan and Elise over break!

My mom organized my closet for me and  she is always moving my stuff but this time she did something different. "Jordyn I cleaned your closet!!" my mom screamed from another room. "Thanks!" I screamed back. As I slowly crept in my room I came to find my mom had reorganized my whole room! she always is moving EVERYTHING! but anyways back to the point. As I slowly opened the closet door waiting for another rearrangement, I saw 5 pairs of eyes looking right back at me! My mom had moved most of my stuffed animals  on the top self of my closet so they all sat up and looked right at me. To add on to the terror I had 2 American girl dolls standing up with their hands in the air. Every night when I go to sleep I always imagine what  could be going on in there and the thought's make me drift off to sleep.

Extra credit

Over break I had a Christmas party for Girl Scouts and we went to the movies to go see Annie. I was really good. Some people cried at the end but I didn't. After we went out to eat at Logan's but I didn't like the food.

Sorry I haven't written in so long! Every time I sit down to write it is 12:00 and it's too late. I had a really good Christmas. The top 5 things I got were beats, timberlands, iviva, clothes, and a new laptop. On New Years I didn't have a fancy party but I watched a movie with my mom and watched the ball drop. I am so glad for 2015!!!!
