Literary Essay Wonder

A literary Essay based of the book Wonder by R.J Palacio 

In the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio Auggie has to overcome the challenges that come with having a facial deformity but he eventually finds good friends. Theme of the story is that there are going to be issues in life but you just have to push through and keep going. In the end it will pay off. I think that is Auggie is special and different or a "Wonder". 

Earlier in  the story Auggie has to make some difficult decisions.  like when his mom wants him to go to school. “I don’t want to go to school” Auggie says folding his arms. “It would be good for you” His mom says. Auiggie feels like he doesn’t belong at school and every one will laugh at him. When Auggie actually gets to school for the first time he made some new friends. All the people that were giving him the tour were friendly to him.  He was starting to get used to being at a new school. This shows that Auggie is preserving and trying to make new friends.

Later in the story, Auggie finds out that not every one is nice as he thinks. Julian is mean to Auggie and Auggie tries to stay away from him. Julian started this thing called the plague and you get it if you touch Auiggie. It's like a disease or something. During Halloween Auggie decided to change his costume last minute and when he shows up to school he sees Jack calling Auggie mean names and making fun of his costume. Unfortunately it was just a misunderstanding because Jack thought that Auggie was coming in a different costume so he didn't know who he was making fun of but he shouldn't have any way.

Today I had volley ball. There was one minute left on the clock. Sully had just served and failed to hit it over the net. I didn't realize that we had just gotten  point so I stood there looking like a fool with my arms out ready to bump. "Jordyn its your time to serve!" Sully's mom yelled who was also the coach. I thought she was talking to the other Jordyn so I just stood there waiting for her to serve. Finally someone said the Jordyn in the pink which was me. We all rotated and I was hoping that if I walked slow enough the bell would ring and I wouldn't have to serve. "RIIIIING!" A huge alarm went of in my head and I was saved! at least I thought. "Ok Jordyn jut one last serve we'll have enough time" Coach said. She threw the ball to me and I could feel my cheeks burning up. I hadn't been practicing my setting so I was a little rusty. I held the ball in my right and  slowly made an fist with the let. Before I hit I looked up and I saw a million eyes all glued on me. I so wasn't ready! We were tied and I didn't want to let my team down. I hit the ball as hard as I could and it bounced off the net! She through me the ball again as if she knew that I needed another on. Again I made a fist with my left hand but this time I squeezed my eyes shut and brought up all the energy in my body and hit the ball! It flew towards Grace and she hit it and it went over the net. I was so happy! I knew that if I tried hard enough I could get that ball over the net some way some how!

Tomorrow I have Girl Scouts and we are you going to spend the night at the palace. First we are going to watc the game and do activities then we are going to our own private sweet to sleep. I am also exited because we are going to get training so we can earn our silver award! A connection to Girl Scouts is today Megan Shinbe and I went to a Girl Scout troop and helped them earn there jewelry badge and plus we made money. I love helping kids!Wish me luck!

In science we are doing body system books and I love mine! On the front it shows a little person that looks like you and on each page it show all the different systems. For example on the first page it shows the skeletal system which is your bones so it's like the cover is your skin then it shows what's under neath our skin and our clothes like each layer. Today I am doing my nervous system and it took me forever since I am a perfectionist but sadly I have to color it tomorrow. I hope I color quick!

Today was a snow day finally! I have been waiting for months and I was giving up. There is so much snow but sadly we have school tomorrow. It doesn't matter how much snow there is it just matters if the roads are clearer and they are. I hope we have more snow days before winter ends!
